Standard Reference Material 1976b Instrument Response Standard for X-Ray Powder Diffraction

چکیده

This Standard Reference Material (SRM) consists of a sintered alumina disc intended for use in calibration of X-ray powder diffraction equipment with respect to line position and intensity as a function of 2 angle. The solid form of the SRM eliminates any variability in intensity measurements introduced by the sample loading procedure. A unit of SRM 1976b consists of a sintered alumina disc approximately 25.6 mm in diameter by 2.2 mm in thickness.

Neutron powder diffraction in materials with incoherent scattering: an illustration of Rietveld refinement quality from nondeuterated gypsum

The power of the state-of-the-art neutron powder diffractometer suite at the Institut Laue–Langevin for investigating the structure of nondeuterated materials is presented using gypsum, CaSO4 2H2O, as a reference material. It is shown that flexible modern neutron powder diffraction instruments at reactorbased sources can yield data with sufficient counting statistics above the incoherent scatte...

JCPDS-ICDD Research Associateship (Cooperative Program with NBS/NIST)

The Research Associateship program of the Joint Committee on Powder Diffraction-International Centre for Diffraction Data (JCPDS-ICDD, now known as the ICDD) at NBS/NIST was a long standing (over 35 years) successful industry-government cooperation. The main mission of the Associateship was to publish high quality x-ray reference patterns to be included in the Powder Diffraction File (PDF). The...

Addressing the amorphous content issue in quantitative phase analysis: the certification of NIST standard reference material 676a.

A non-diffracting surface layer exists at any boundary of a crystal and can comprise a mass fraction of several percent in a finely divided solid. This has led to the long-standing issue of amorphous content in standards for quantitative phase analysis (QPA). NIST standard reference material (SRM) 676a is a corundum (α-Al(2)O(3)) powder, certified with respect to phase purity for use as an inte...

Development of an Astm Standard Test Method on X-ray Powder Diffraction Analysis of Hydraulic Cements

X-ray powder diffraction provides a direct analysis of phase abundance of portland cement clinkers and cements. The ASTM C01 (Cement) Committee formed a task group to investigate quantitative X-ray powder diffraction analysis that resulted in the ASTM C 1365 standard test for X-ray powder diffraction of portland cement clinker and portland cement. Estimates of test precision and bias are requir...

Quantitative X-ray Powder Diffraction Analyses of Clays Using an Orienting Internal Standard and Pressed Disks of Bulk Shale Samples

Abstraet--Quantitative analysis of clay minerals by X-ray powder diffraction requires oriented clays in order to increase detection limits of the analyses. This is achieved commonly either by smear or sedimentation techniques; however, these techniques can lead to poor analytical precision when used with an internal standard because they often produce non-homogeneous internal standard-clay mine...
